We Interrupt This Post to Bring You a Special TBL News Bulletin......

...She's a klutz!

I had a lovely post planned about the discovery of something fun in our rental backyard,

Yes, it's an orange, but what kind!  Was I surprised when I finally figured it out!

and some cute pictures of my new birdfeeder and the birds flocking to it.

Possibly a picture or two of canines and felines.
BUT...

As I rose out of bed in my usual, graceful, light-on-her-feet manner, my foot caught a bit of sheet and sent me flying forward and down.  Mindful of my knee, which is much better thank you, I thought to break the fall towards the chair with my hand.

Did I mention I had my phone in one hand and a glass of water in the other,  What to sacrifice, what to sacrifice in such a time?

Dropped the water (afterall I might need the phone to take pictures and post to FB or to use on blog) - funny what goes through your mind in the slow motion agony of a fall.

Success!

Hand caught the fall on the arm of one of my beloved Sikes chairs. (Not no more, they ain't!)
No, let me correct that. Pinky finger caught the fall and took the brunt of my wispy form floating to the floor.

We all no I'm not wispy (well, not yet) and that poor little digit had a number done on it,

Spoiler alert and warning. Slightly graphic detail and a couple of pictures, because, after all, I must share the bad with the good.  Look away if you must, but there is no blood, just strange angles.

Pinkie after I pushed it back from it's "L" position.
My hands look disgraceful! Have I never heard of moisturizer?

Mr. T, after figuring out it wasn't the cat who had knocked something over whisked me to the urgent care where I was given nice sympathy, x-rays, a splint and orders to see an Ortho this week to "set it" properly.

Yep, fractured and dislocated. I hear the doc's offices are closed tomorrow for President's day (whaaaa?), but I will be calling them nonetheless.  Don't want my finger to heal improperly waiting too long.

So, I went home bound up, with some Ibuprofen in my system and an ice bag.

I can see I need to clean those granite tops... tsk.

I wanted as much sympathy as possible, so I insisted we keep our lunch date with the kids (how I suffer for them!).  Glad I did - much better than sitting around moping!

The Writer and Stan accompanied us back up to North Hills and we picked up the black and whites and headed for what turned out to be a wonderful dog park.

Pictures of it? Nope, forgot camera.  And besides this is about ME!

The Writer, however did take a picture of Stanley with a group of Great Danes who befriended him.  It's hard to make Stanley look small, but they succeeded.

Don't have the picture yet, so feast you eyes on Dexter sending his G-ma sympathy
(Yes, the ordeal is finally getting to me)

We plan to return to the dog park again as it really was a good one - with a view and I will do a whole post on it.

In the meantime, please leave your comments of condolence and admiration of my stoicism....

My planned post will appear soon and I know you will want to know what the Ortho doc does to me!
Right?

I guess you can still use a phone to order meals ~ pizza etc. ~ delivered of course. Whine if you don't get your wine . I few good books / kindle & I guess you can still operate a remote. That takes care of the important stuff.
I can teel you from experience that you can use the LFET hand to do all kinds of things. So kick back and see Doctor and take it from there. What chores are the " Boston's " going to do ? Keep us informed !

Ok, I have come to the conclusion that you must move back to Florida because California is a dangerous place for you. First your knee not even two months ago and now your finger. Yes, I know you had your fair share of injuries when you lived here but it took you over 35 years to get them.

I am truly sorry to hear about your finger. I know it must hurt and trying to do things left handed while possible isn't always easy or natural. So stock up on some plastic bags and elastic or rubber bands so you can cover it up when you are washing, cooking, etc.

You do have my utmost sympathy dear friend. CG

I will call you "Grace" from now on for your graceful movements and how you handled this. Glad you did not do worse damage. Cannot believe the doc took this holiday off. hugs, olive

Oh dear lord, this sounds so much like something that would happen to me. I have fallen on the same name several times over the years, so I hear ya when you will do anything to keep from landing on the knee. I do feel your pain, and sympathize most emphatically! Good luck getting in with the doc and getting this pinky straightened out. And I most enthusiastically prescribe chocolate in any form. Hugs!!!

Oh my gosh! I can't imagine! That was a lot of stuff to happen at all once like that. Sorry about your finger! I hope they can set it easy without any pain.

Yes, Ann, that was a lot of stuff to happen at once, as Angela said. I wouldn't be able to summarize any better.
You were brave, I think to try to push your pinkie somewhat back in place.
Hmm, so you have President's day, and we have Family day, good to have a long weekend - but sorry your dr. is off.
Take care, Ann, :)
Hugs,
Brenda

What a pity, because I know that cleaning those counters was on the top of your to do list. No more. Yes, very brave and excellent keeping your priorities straight and taking photos of everything.

Do be sure to get it set and then be ever so careful. Once those digits pop out they tend to want to do tie again.

Ok! Now to go and read up for your current post...
I had to stop at the onset of reading it;because apparently yesterday I was out. OF. MY. MIND. And read very little!
so this is fresh news to me!
