Welcome SMS!

Our family has been more than blessed over the last several months with an upcoming wedding (11 days! OMG), The Maven entering her final semester of college and the birth of a new family member.  My grand-nephew, Sebastian.

Here he is with his Grandpa, my brother, Richard, known in blogland as Mr. Connor.  Sebastian was born very early.  In fact The Maven and I were at his mom's baby shower when she unexpectedly went into labor very early.  I'm not sure, but it was before the 30th week of pregnancy.  Mr. Connor will give the exact time!

Beautiful Sebastian was born July 15, 2011 at 6:49am.  He weighed in at 2 lbs, 6.6 oz. and was 14.5 inches long.

What a fighter Mr. Sebastian is! As of last update he weighs 5 lbs., 9oz. and his parents are hopeful that he will soon be released from NICU.

Sebastian's dad is Pete, a member of the U.S. Army who has served his country heroically for many years in the turmoil that continues in this world and recently received his Master's Degree from The University of Florida.  His lucky mom is my neice, Cristine, who valiantly stands by as an army wife while her husband risks life and limb, works a job, and who now stands by her "little man" as he gets stronger each and every day.

Best wishes to Pete, Cristine, and of course, the adorable Sebastian!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I hope Sebastian gets to come home soon!

My daughter has a friend that weighed 2 pounds when she was born. She's 14 now and you would never know it. She was smaller than the other kids when she was younger though.

He was not due until the end of September. About 12 weeks early. 2 or 3 more weeks and he might be ready to leave the hospital. Long trip to Reno, Nevada planned upon release.

Oh as the mom of a former preemie I know how anxious they must have been but he sounds (and looks) like he is doing beautifully.

Thinking of you daily. Hang in there MOG. :)
