Darcy Gets a Brother

We have a new black and white addition to the Boston family.  His name is Dexter, he is a rescue and he's pretty darn cute.

Alas, no, he is not a Boston Terrier, but a little kitty who pretty much had everyone here at the manor wrapped around his cute little paw.

But I digress...

The Maven and Darcy, her cat since college days, have settled into a new routine of working girl and loyal feline companion.  Tucked away in their little rental suite off the back of the The Writer and Sammy's house, they've been quite happy sharing girl/cat time and catching up at the end of the day by watching their favorite shows and chasing stuffed mice.

However, The Maven's job hours are sometimes long, sometimes in the day time, sometimes in the night time.

Darcy often feels lonely.
(According to her mom)

Enter cute rescue kitten, Dexter.

Joyous Darcy is lonely no longer. Can't you see her smile there?

It's not easy being knocked off your kitty pedestal by some young upstart, especially one so cute and needy.

Mr. Dexter was very scared the first couple of days and needed The Maven's constant attention to make him feel at home.  The gray hulking, hissing figure walking the perimeter of the room wasn't exactly rolling out the welcome mat.

The girl and her two cats showed up here for a couple of days while my brother was visiting and we all wondered how Dexter would react to the "big" dogs, especially when he was so intimidated by Miss Darcy.

Mr. T's new office assistant

Wouldn't you know it?  Some neutral territory, a bit of up-close-and-personal time with the two canines and Dexter is a changed kitty.

Last reports from the "two cat suite" is that Darcy and Dexter are palling around a bit, eating side by side and even, gasp(!), playing tag.  The working girl now has two mouths to feed and a lot more stuffed mice in her future.

Dexter, out!

Love the kitty and its name. I guess all the black and whites have to stick together and gang up on Miss Darcy. How does Dexter do with the really big dog Stanley? So when does Pippa arrive I think bumby needs a companion? :-) CG

oh, stuffed mice. my living room is full of them, and my needing to be clutter free self can.not.stand it. but what can you do, the cats love it! i'm super jealous of the quick to adjust cat, my older one still hisses and growls at the younger! ugh!

What a darling sweet kitty. That Darcy plays tag is great. Clovis would be totally ticked if I brought home that cutie. Do you know he pees on Shelley's toys? Drama, we got it:}

I am so glad that the two of them are getting along, from what the Maven has told me it sounds like they're settling in very well. I am so glad that she saved a life and adopted this little guy and I cannot wait to meet him! Having more than one cat just makes the home more fun however this does give her an excuse to start wanting a dog :D Hope the W clan is doing well.

Dexter is so cute, and it's good to see he now has a loving home!
Poor Darcy - she did look pretty unhappy in these pictures, but really it sounds like things are now going well!
I think adopting Dexter is such a good idea, for so many reasons!
