Politics Aside...A Visit to The Ronald Reagan Library

I don't go into politics or other controversial topics if I can avoid it on my blog.  I don't feel that sharing the beautiful surroundings, inspiring quotes and interesting visit we had to The Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley changes that at all. It was like taking a step back in time and remembering the good and the bad that comes with any era.

It was the first time any of us in our party had been to a Presidential library and we were all most impressed and now feel like if the opportunity presents itself, we would make the time to visit some of the other ones.

As I said, The RR Library is located in beautiful Simi Valley and is perfectly situated on a hilltop that shows off the views of the valley in the most spectacular way.

I'm going to let my pictures just flow and mainly speak for themselves.

Can you guess what this is?

A section of the Berlin Wall.

Lovely Hacienda-style structure houses the library

There's one in every crowd, isn't there?

Our motley crew prepares to board Air Force One.

It took us a good four and a half hours to see the entire library with a very pleasant lunch included in that time
frame.  I didn't take many pictures as we walked around because I just wanted to enjoy the experience and read the text accompanying the displays which cover the time period from President Reagan's childhood up through his post-presidential days.

A good day.

For my reading friends, a fascinating book that covers the behind-the-scenes reaction and action during the time of the assassination attempt on President Reagan, is out in paperback, ebook form and audio form.

This looks like such an interesting tour, Ann! I thought it was really something that a piece of the Berlin Wall was there! Great photos!

I think they got the scale of Nancy's head a bit wrong there on the statue!

It must be a kind of odd feeling, packing up and moving to another state. I can't imagine.
Do you feel like your on an extended vacation?
I ask because... my weeks don't ebb and flow like the tide...and I barely notice Saturday and Sunday now that The Honey has retired. It's weird.

Ok... way off topic now.
I bet the Pres. Library is spectacular to see in person. I think the Berlin Wall is so interesting and I love the quote too..."appealing to our best hopes, not your worst fears". I can say I don't think this is happening with the current Pres.
...In my opinion.
Thanks for the tour and love the photos! Pat

The Reagan library was very interesting. It was like walking through a time capsule back into the 80's.

This is so interesting, Ann.
I love the piece of the Berlin wall.
This was certainly an interesting era, and I have quite fond memories of Ronald Reagan, and Nancy. They seemed like "real people, and I have heard how kind and generous they were.
Certainly reading here, felt abit like a step back to another time, and I imagine you had a great day.
Thanks for the pictures you did take.

It was great ! Not enough time to really see everything well. The book is fantastic. I can visit there again. I might even want to visit other libraries of presidents I didn't like. What a treat to step back in time !

Gorgeous views from atop the library! I got goosebumps when you showed us that piece of the Berlin Wall. I am not sure I like that statue of the Reagans together, Nancy looks not-quite-right. Thanks for the great tour!!
P.S. when we lived i;n California(Pt Mugu Naval Air Station near Oxnard) my son had baseball playoffs in Simi Valley; it was pretty but very very hot. Thanks for the reminder of that memory--my son was 8, and his team won!

What a great day you had and thank you for the reminder. After football season we need to do some fun things and we haven't been to the Ronald Reagan Library. I have been to The Nixon Library a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm excited, thank you for sharing.
