Come for a Stroll Around an Old Town Orange Neighborhood

The temperatures are dipping a bit today and Mr Tennis and I decided to pack up the Bostons and make the short drive to Old Town Orange and get a close up view of some of the lovely historical bungalows that line the streets.

Why don't you come with us?

Who can resist this old garage door?  I'm glad they kept it after putting in a modern door.

Attention hog, Sadie.

Don't you just love this curved room with the windows on this house?

I don't know all the architectural terms, but I know what I like and I like these old Craftsman Bungalows.

Most are a hundred years or older and bear plaques stating their "birth dates".

Hard for me to resist a stoop with a lovely feline...

or two.

This was the era of front porches - of all sizes.

And fancy balustrades.
These people are ready for Halloween, look at the bats inside the door!

They celebrate the milestones of these lovely houses.

Wide overhangs and lots of wood.

Angles and curves.

And again, those lovely porches.

Love this wreath!

As I said, angles galore.

Lovely restorations.

Beautiful and unique front doors.

And yes, again, those porches.

Looks like Halloween is a big event at this home.

Yes indeed.

Simply elegant.

And, not so simply elegant.

Large shaded areas to lounge in the summer.

Yes, the sky was this glorious blue today!

A pretty arbor over the driveway.

I really want a yellow house, one day.

With a unique old wooden front door.

Please ignore the shadow monster, just part of the Halloween decor.

Another great door.

And we've come full circle back to the yellow barn door.

Thanks for joining us on our walk!

A gorgeous neighborhood. I love the 100 year old birthday sign. So much character in those homes.
I keep forgetting to tell you: Ok, you moved from Orange County FL to OC, CA. So, did you know there is an Orange County New York? In case you and Mr T get the urge to move east. Just sayin'!
Love the Boston JackoLantern!!!

I'd take a bungalow any day over a big new house. In our town all the bungalows are being torn down to build monster homes on the big lots they sits on.

I love the Craftsman bungalows, too. They just have so much more character and charm than the McMansions have. Also, like your Boston jack o'Lantern. Are you going to try to make one for yourself? And, on the weather front we're expecting our first cold wave of the season tomorrow her in Orlando lows in the upper mid to upper 80's. However, Daytona and some of the beach areas are going to be in the 70's all day today. Time to break out the sweaters, not really. CG

I'm in love, my favorite style of house! We had a garage door like that in Western Springs, IL. I can't believe my Aunt and Uncle never told me about these homes. GORGEOUS....

What a great tour ! Wasn't your first home a craftsman ? Yellow ~ was /is a favorite color ? ? ?Didn't see any for sale. If you have to ask you can't afford it, right ? Loved the curved windows !

Ha ha, you and your fetish with porches and doors .. Thank you for taking me for a walk with you. I do like the house with the curve windows and the walk way that connect the garage to the house. They all look so well maintain for such old houses, I see they are well love buy their tenants.
I hope you will get your yellow house soon, with front porch, antique front door and a beautiful yard of course. You deserve it. God bless.
