"Cold Weather" Florida Style

Okay, so we aren't known for our fortitude when it comes to cold weather.  We whine when it doesn't climb above 65 degrees in a day.  But as a transplanted Northerner to Florida, I enjoy the cooler temperatures, but also sympathize with the natives because as much as I hate to admit it, my blood has thinned and I'm not used to "prolonged" (read, 2 days or more) of temps below 60.

Yes, we are wimps, but we still know how to make a fire!

We don't have an "in-house" fireplace, so we have improvised with an outdoor firepit that we use for the short cooler months here.

It's such a treat and even the Bostons get into the mood and enjoy the fact that we are sitting outside in cold (to us) weather.

It thrills my inner-Canadian to be able to have a fire as it was something I grew up with and missed for many years.

You can see Panda and Sadie are enjoying their fireside cow bone (courtesy of Uncle Kurt at Christmas).  And below the Maven and Darcy are basking in the glow of a Florida Fireplace.

Best Wishes to all our good friends throughout blogland and RL (real life) for a wonderful New Year!

Oooo-- love sitting outside by the fire. We have to be careful of late--it is very dry! Well, that is until this week. We hope to burn brush in the next day or so...A bon fire that will be fun this time of year!

enjoy!

Take care, Sue

Loved the fire ! Great just looking into a fire a day dreaming. Hopefully, the cooler weather has gone for a while.

we are soooo jealous that you live in Florida. As you know Boston's are a bit wimpy in cold temperatures so MN is not to fun during the winter.

We are thrilled that it's above 30 degrees here today. Feels balmy compared to the temps we've been having! Happy new year to you, too!

You're so right. I don't know how a cold-loving person like me always ends up in warm-weather climates, but I am longing for snow and cold weather, primarily because I can simply breathe better in the cold air. Having lived in South Georgia (about 30 miles from FL) I've developed allergies that I'm not happy about, so cold weather gives me much needed relief.

I must say, I love your Boston Terriers. They are so much fun. I have a friend in CA who adores Bostons... I love all dogs and whichever breed I happen to have at the time turns out to be my favorite (yes, I'm fickle that way!)

When I had Eskies, they always got a bog ole cow bone EACH and they dragged that thing around like the big, bad hunters they thought they were - LOL - aren't dogs a riot? I can't imagine my life without them.

I sure do love your outdoor fire pit...I saw them in a magazine and I may break down and get me one...and in the summer it could keep the mosquitoes away, right?

It's so nice meeting you, neighbor!
Happy New Year!!!

Love the Boston coats! We have gotten down into the 20's for the past 2 nights and don't know what to do with ourselves.

I am alarmed by the coldness you are experiencing. This is just not right. I hope that the weather improves for you.
