I've Got a New Boston!

Hah!  I knew that would get your attention.  I haven't gone off the reservation, my new Boston Terrier is a painted iron cast one that my good friend SN surprised me with about a week ago.

He goes nicely in my green hutch and stands out nicely against the white background.  Not to mention  he keeps my blue Ball jars company.

You may notice a plate to the left, it is a vintage souvenir plate from the state of Florida.  My childhood friend brought it down for me when she came for the wedding last month.  Her grandmother had collected many of these souvenir plates and had displayed them on a plate rail around the perimeter of her living room.  My friend, Jane, and I used to travel to downtown Toronto via bus and subway from our suburban residences and visit her grandparents.  I have no idea how far it actually was (probably 10 miles), but at 12 or 13 years of age we felt very grown up to be trusted with travelling by ourselves.  Jane's grandma would add to our fantasy of of independence and maturity by serving us tea and cake as if we were visiting royalty.

Isn't it wonderful how a simple item can bring back such wonderful memories and also remind us of how lucky we are to have the friends we have present day.

So, what should I name the new Boston???

Oh my miss Anne you certainly tricked me! I though what will poor Bumby do with another Boston. Thank goodness it is just pretend but I hope he watches his back when Darcy is around

I am kinda liking rap names right now (heaven knows why) What about Shorty or Biggie.

I need to ask what one is wearing in Florida these days. Capris? sandals? white pants? We are there next week and on the blogs people keep saying it is cold but I think they mean 75 degrees.

Ann, I thought you might have gotten a new member to your family... :)

This little cast iron boston does look well in your shelf.

It's interesting to hear this memory, from your time in Toronto, the plate sounds like a special, cherished treasure.

no idea what to call the new addition. Big trip to the downtown Toronto area. The things we did at that age. Did mother know you were going ? Can't wait to see the plate.

What a lovely memory! I like that plate. Such a treasure.
Your new Boston is sweet. A nice name like Flynn, Mr. Tibbs, Thom,or Diesel! My kids found a Boston Terrier last summer. He was ancient and had a cataract in one eye. I am sure he was a con artist cause he found a way out of the yard and we never saw him again. They called him Diesel and we called him "Pops" because he acted like an old guy!
