And So The Planning Begins...

The Maven, aka Thelma, and I, aka Louise, are about to make the drive of our collective lifetimes.  The Maven will be spending the summer in LA with her brother and Sammy (and Stanley), working and enjoying some new experiences. Next Monday we will arise and begin our trip across the country in Thelma's little Pontiac Vibe.  Hardly a  vintage convertible T-bird, as was in the movie, but then again, we aren't like the original T & L either.

We've been watching the movie just to get in the right mood and I realized how much of it I had forgotten.  In my memory Thelma & Louise were simply driving across the country to escape their unhappy lives.  The unpleasant (that's putting it lightly) situations they encountered along the way (save for Brad Pitt) were not in my recollections at all.  I had simply remembered two gals out to conquer the world and looking for adventure.  So it is with that spirit that Thelma & Louise RT 2010 commences.

We've got our maps.  And a route marked by AAA.

The Maven will program her GPS and mother and daughter will set out for a five day road trip from Orlando to Los Angeles.  We don't have any definite stops.  We will make this as serendipitous as my control-freak nature will allow.  Mr. Tennis and I made this trip three years ago when we drove The Writer's car out West for him.  We did it in 4 days, but Thelma & Louise want to allow time for "unplanned" moments of spontaneity.  Be assured, however, there will be no robberies or taking of lives, or most importantly, driving off of cliffs.  Just lots of audio books, caffeine, singing and fun.

Louise, aka, The Boston Lady, will return after the Memorial Day weekend on her first solo plane ride since she was 19 years old.  She is very nervous.

Mr. Tennis and Louise will fly back at the end of the summer and spend a week with the Californians and then Thelma & Louise will hit the road again for the return trip.  Mr. Tennis will fly home solo and he is not nervous at all.

And as for Thelma?  Well, does she look nervous?  Not on your life!

Have a great trip! I hope The Maven has a wonderful summer. She just might not want to come back. Then you and Mr. Tennis just might be moving to LA. You never know!
